i.TV redefines the universal remote control

Justin

i.TV 2.0 available now with integrated remote control from TiVo

We are happy to announce the i.TV Remote Control Framework and the launch of i.TV 2.0 in the iTunes Store.

Remote Control: i.TV now brings together the TV guide and the remote control TiVo remote on i.TVon your iPhone or iPod touch. The i.TV Remote Control Framework enables third parties to develop remote controls for televisions, DVRs, IR blasters and other home entertainment devices.

TiVo remote: TiVo is the first* to introduce a remote control for the i.TV platform. You can now change the channel, fast forward, record and most importantly play your favorite shows and movies with just a tap on your iPhone or iPod touch.

*While TiVo is the first to introduce a remote control on i.TV, more remote control integrations are in development and will be announced in the coming months.

i.TV's new user interface

Also new in i.TV 2.0

New look: i.TV now has a simplified and remote-like user interface.

iTunes: From within i.TV, discover relevant TV, movie, music, podcast and audiobook content and then tap to download from iTunes.

Push notifications: Set pop up alerts to remind you when your favorite TV shows air. Never miss a show again.

I love i.tv. It is awesome.

This is a great new design and UI. I think everything will be an amzing improvement. I love the original I. Tv and it makes my viewing of television easy. And now with the new remote it will be super easy to navigate the channels!!!

Thanks, Sam. I can't wait for you to try it.

Great feature, but does not support Tivo 2, only Tivo HD. Bummer for me.

  • Manny

Doesn't support TiVo Series 3 either.

  • TiVo LoVr

Doesn't seem to work very well for me. I have more than one TiVo HD on my network and there doesn't seem to be a way to choose which one I want to control. Please let me know how to switch between tivos!!

  • TiVo LoVr

I have multiple HD tivos. I can't select which TiVo to control

I would like to also see an option which disables the iPhone from sleeping when I have the remote open.

Currently the app doesn't support controlling multiple TiVo HD DVRs but it will within the next month or so. That functionality is coming with the next update.

I think that disabling the iPhone from sleeping when you have the remote open is a good suggestion. I'll check with the developers and see if that's doable.

Can't find any trouble shooting information. I enabled the network remote on my Tivo HD and I still get Remote not connected to device. Is there any other settings I need to do on my Tivo / i.tv app / ipod touch / network? I would love for this to work…

Sorry it's not working for you! Let's get you up and running ASAP. I love using i.TV as a remote for my TiVo HD.

Did you enter your TiVo credentials in the app already in order to link i.TV with your TiVo account? Have you already reached out to support[at]i.tv?
