i.TV now with TiVo support, streaming TV and movie tickets

Justin

i.TV 1.2 is now in the App Store and I just wanted to let you know what’s new.

Our developers have been working hard to add new features, to make i.TV more stable, and to implement your suggestions.

Here’s the news:

TiVo

  • DVR remote record with TiVo support!
  • Selection of streaming videos–including full TV episodes, fan videos, and other bonus material (currently, this is asmallselection of full episodes but we will be adding content frequently and on a regular basis)
  • Movie ticket purchasing
In addition to this, we have also made several other feature enhancements and bug fixes:
  • What’s Hot tab: Get the latest entertainment news, recaps of your favorite shows, gallery images, and featured content.
  • Upcoming movie listings and trailers
  • i.TV Wallet: You can now securely store payment options for business transacted via i.TV, such as movie ticket purchases.
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements
Thank you to all of you for your feedback and suggestions. As you can see, we are listening and working hard to add new features that you have asked for. Please keep the feedback coming and we hope you enjoy!

Yawn. Really! The app crashes alot still. All the ads make it slow and almost useless. I'm happier with other apps like What's On TV? or TV Forcast.

    I just re-deleted i.tv. No thanks.

Please add the hr20 directv dvr

  • runCMD

Awesome software. I'll bet even Apple hadn't thought about the extended usefulness of their new mobile platform until you and other forward thinking developers jumped outside the box to develop apps like this.

Since you have streaming … and you have netflix instant queue management … is Netflix wifi streaming to iPhone on the horizon ?
Since you have Tivo scheduling available now – any work being done with DirecTV to offer remote sceduling of their DVR's … or their upcoming update of the DirecTivoHD ? Would that be too MUCH to ask for : )

Thanks for all the hard word and please … (keep it up)

  • Jash

    You guys rock!!!!

Have you had a chance to talk to Directv yet about remote recording for their DVR?

  • prup

So what shows are included in the small selection with full episodes? I am unable to locate them. It would be nice if there were a way to make them easier to find. Great app. Looking forward to further development.

  • Larry Stewart

So, how does the Tivo support work?

  • http://i.tv/blog Justin W.

Thanks for writing and excellent questions. I can't exactly say what will come next but as a rule of thumb here at i.TV, if you can imagine it…we're probably working on it.

When we added Netflix to our app in November, we gave everyone a heads up that it was the first in a series of third party integrations and that there would be more to come. Well, TiVo and MovieTickets.com are an example of these integrations and like I said…there are more to come.

  • http://i.tv/blog Justin W.

Well, first of all you need to have a broadband-enabled TiVo DVR. If you do have a TiVo DVR and it is connected to the internet, all you have to do is link your TiVo account to your i.TV account via our application on the iPhone or iPod touch. If you need any help, try writing our support team. They answer EVERY email.

I second that. It'd be really handy to find those quickly when one has children to amuse in the back seat of the car. (Only one I've found so far is Deal or No Deal.)

Good suggestion. We're working on a solution for that right now, actually. I don't have an exact timeline on when it will be available though.

  • Chapps

Oh, please, please add DirecTV support to this app! I love the app and find it incredibly useful – but without the ability to 'close the loop' by initiating a recording on my DirecTV box, it's like seeing the promised land on the other side of a chasm … and all you need is the bridge.

  • runCMD

someone's getting coal in their stocking this week. :) Not everyone will like the same app for different reasons. I see i.TV as further realization of the iPhone potential. I just with my iPhone had a larger screen now – and infrared out.

  • Bob Cronin

Alas, the TiVo functionality doesn't work for me. I keep getting an error telling me that the cable provider I have chosen in ITV is different from what I have on my TiVo's, but that's not true. They are the same (Cablevision Systems in Wappingers Falls, NY). What am I missing? Or is this a bug?

  • dave01568

i.tv added Netflix queue managment. but, i was really was looking foward to netflix instant watch. enable that and you really will be the best app. there isn't any iphone/touch app that has netflix instant watch.pay netflix if you have to. it may even be worth users paying for. hopefully user won't because netflix will get more sign ups.

also, i use the (free ish) orb.com to stream anything to my iphone .please intergrade them.

hulu ,fox ,abc nbc, local streams??? come on you gready networks give us free media !!!!!!!

  • Al from Toronto

    Hey “Name”,

Bummer you gave up so quick on things. It's a great app and one with as much functionality as this one will have some hiccups along the way. But for what it is, it is awesome. I can't wait to see what else they do with it. Maybe synchronize it with your own LCD tv to use as a remote.

  • http://i.tv/blog Justin W.

This is a great suggestion and we are working to expand our list of DVR integration partners. I can't say exactly what's coming next but as they say in TV circles, “stay tuned.”

  • http://i.tv/blog Justin W.

Dave, did you know you can manage your instant viewing queue for Netflix with i.TV? Instant watching though, now isn't that something all of us would love?

  • kbraaten818

So where can you EASILY find a streaming FULL episode of something? All I can find ate trailors.

  • Dave

I can't wait until they stop it crashing All the time. I'm glad I kept a copy of version 1.0….

  • http://i.tv/blog Justin W.

Dave-Please feel free to send a note to our support team. They may be able to help you out with these crashes and your feedback may help us improve stability for the next version. We appreciate it when our community is actively involved in helping us improve i.TV.

  • Mike

Hey – love the app and the Tivo support.

It works sometimes for me, but not for others. My issue is similar to above – the channels are different. One other thing – I see the HD channels listed (like CNNHD) but not the regular channels, and Tivo won't pick up those as recordable. I can record on non-HD channels. (This is for Directv)

One issue for me – I have both cable and satellite. I don't see a way to add both. It does look like I can pick my directv+locals and tivo will schedule the locals through my cable appropriately.

  • http://i.tv/blog Justin W.

So, last question first (the one about being able to use two TV providers). This has been requested by others as well and is on our radar. It's a good suggestion.

As for the TiVo problems you're having, please feel free to contact our support team and they will help you out.

  • ray

TiVo remote record doesn't work. I.tv keeps telling me something like “TiVo is unable to match this recording to your channel lineup”, even though I have correctly entered Comcast and
    my zipcode in the settings.

You need to hire more QA before releasing to the public.

  • http://i.tv/blog Justin W.

Hi Ray–We have a small percentage of users seeing this message and our support team is currently working with those affected to help solve the problem. Can you please send a message to i.TV support and let them know you're having difficulties?

  • Levi morton

they need to add my service provider. AT&T U-Verse for riverside Southern California.

  • jjahcon

Have loved it from start. Keeps getting better!0

  • Shelleyshields

What does “account token expired” mean when I try to record remotely with my TiVo. Any suggestions?

  • http://i.tv/blog Justin W.

Hi Shelley – Every year or so the account token expires. All you have to do is to go into TiVo settings in i.TV and logout of TiVo and login again and that SHOULD do the trick. Please let us know if it doesn't and we'll do our best to get you up and running ASAP.
