i.TV introduces movie and TV guide for the iPhone

i.TV for iPhone now available

We are very pleased to announce the launch of i.TV in the iTunes App Store. i.TV is a TV and movie guide application for the iPhone and iPod touch. With i.TV you can find comprehensive info on the latest TV shows and new movies. The best part is…the application is absolutely FREE.

Here are the key features of i.TV:

i.TV presents users with relevant and up-to-date TV and movie listings based on their current location and other customizable profile settings. The service provides rich background information for most programs, including celebrity photos, biographies, show synopses, ratings, and reviews. i.TV also gives users advanced sort options that make it easy to organize television listings according to categories such as channel, show, and genre. Additionally, customers can use built-in filtering capabilities to exclude information from their listings, such as adult content.

i.TV includes a number of community-focused features that enable users to discover programming and socialize around entertainment. Customers can also use i.TV to recommend shows through an email alert to friends. The application allows users to give shows star ratings, write their own reviews, and respond to reviews written by other members of the i.TV community.

i.TV also has the capability to deliver entertainment directly to the end user. Using the iPhone or iPod touch, i.TV’s customers have access to a large selection of movie trailers and television previews that can be streamed directly to their device.

    I tried the app here in Canada. Everything seems fine but I think its a bit slow to get from one item say TV to movies coz of all the images downloading. It's not snappy on the 3g.Haven't tried on wifi yet. I had to click on movies button a few times when I was in TV mode. Overall great work.

    Thanks for your comments and please let us know if you see any issues on 3G. Of course, that will always be a bit slower than Wi-Fi and the image downloading can be a bit slow sometimes. At the same time, the images get cached on your device so they don't have to be downloaded again. The more you use the app during the day, the better performance you should see in the listings view.

    I'd be interested in “subscribing” or favoriting my favorite TV shows and having a list of only these shows and a way to browse the next air date of my favorite shows. Once Apple releases their push notification service it'd be great to have a notice pushed at a customizable time before the episode is due to air in my time zone.

    Also, it'd be nice to see what the nielsen ratings are for each show/episode and graph the success of the series. Maybe that'd be only useful to a few people, but it'd be a nice feature.

    Also from Canada. I'm getting theatre information from states halfway across the continent. I haven't searched through all of them yet to see if my local ones are in amongst the crowd.

    A question. There were only two TV choices provided for my area: Shaw and Over the Air. As I have satellite TV, I chose “over the air” which really didn't help. How can I reset my TV service to Shaw to at least get an approximation of my sat selection?

    Will you be adding StarChoice and Bell Express Vu to the service soon?

    To update your TV listings, click on “More” at the bottom of the
    screen, then “Settings”. You can then select your zip code and change
    your Satellite provider. You have to select the provider (Dish,
    DirectTV, or other company) for your Satellite for the correct
    listings to show up. If you e-mail support@i.tv with your provider
    name and zip code we can try to figure out why it's not showing up.

    What would really set this app off is if you could schedule recordings to your DVR. I know Uverse allows you to do it online, but you have to log into their site.

    how come it doesnt work for? i mean, i download the app., i signed up for it, my account is still pendning, i wentt o go check my email and it doesnt tell me to activate my account but to update my profile. so i updated my profile and it seems likes im signing it up again. so i went back to my iphone to watch some random show to see if it is working, but the same thing happen. it says ” The status of your i.tv account is still pendning. Please check your email for your account activation notice.” i did not see anything for me to activate my account but to upload my account. i dont know…im so lost. CAN ANYBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????

    I just got the new update and was very disappointed that there is still no ATT Uverse listing available for my area of Detroit (suburbs). Considering that ATT is the sole provider of phone service for this phone, it would seem they would want this in your app, am I wrong? Oddly enough, I have to still use “Whats On” to get ATT Uverse listings.

    It's a great app but I'm baffled why AT&T Uverse is missing in the Hartford, CT listings since Uverse and IPhone are partners.

    We have every other conceivable signal carrier including over-the-air but not Uverse.

    Please rectify this omission.

    I live in the SF Bay Area, but I'm getting Uverse listings from a Chicago zip code, which is weird. When Uverse is finally added, would it be possible to control the DVR as well?

    !!DENIAL:This version of i.TV has expired. You may continue using this version, however your listings data will no longer be refreshed. Please download the new Update from the i.Tunes App store. Thank you.
