i.TV is #1 in the iTunes App Store

Justin

In case you didn’t know it already, i.TV made it to NUMBER ONE in the App Store last night! Thanks to all of you who have downloaded the app and have given us such great reviews.

Here is what some in the press and blogosphere are saying about i.TV (in order of appearance):

There are a lot of App Store submissions and works-in-progress that trigger anticipatory drooling here at TUAW…, among them the program guide and movie finder i.TV…Now you can download this free tool from the App Store and see for yourself what’s so exciting.

Michael Rose, TUAW

Yes, i.TV is a piece of software. But if i.TV was human, you’d want to invite it to a candlelit dinner, look into its eyes and say “you are so sexy.”

Scott Kleinberg–iPTIB, RedeyeChicago, Chicago Tribune

Your weekend needs a well-structured plan for backlit entertainments. And thankfully the value quotient is very high with…i.TV.

Also some comments from our users:

Thanks for including us Canadians, eh! Very impressive app. — P

You guys are great! I will keep this app on my phone forever. Excellent program you created. Thanks again! — D

THANK YOU everyone for downloading i.TV, sending us your comments, writing about us and telling your friends about i.TV. Please keep it up!

We’ll stop celebrating and get back to work.

Any chance you'll support remote DVR recording with Elgato's EyeTV? Right now it only works with TitanTV.

Mike–Good question but it's one that'll have to be answered later. We'll be making some big announcements soon…so keep your eye on this space.

This is an amazing app — thank you!!

What would make it even better is the option to select *digital* over-the-air TV service (or is that already available, and I'm just not seeing it?).

  • http://i.tv/blog justinwhittaker

Over the air listings are available in many areas. If it's not showing up for you, try sending an email over to support@i.tv. Every email gets answered, so if there are OTA listings available in the zip code you're looking for, we might be able to help you out.

Ken-It depends on your zip code but yes, DirecTV listings are available in most areas.

since i activated my account what else do i have to do? like, when i want to watch like channel 7 (news) and then i click watch but then it says “At your request, this is a reminder to watch: The Doctors blah blah blah and underneath it it says “Automatically add this to your calendar by opening the attached file.” Am i suppose to download that calendar thing too?

Currently you may only watch TV previews that are available. If a preview is available, there will be small play button in the show card. You may tap on the play button and the preview will download and play. We are excited about i.TV and future capabilities that will be released in the coming weeks and months. As for time frames and upcoming features, we will release any announcements through our free i.TV news email. If you wish to get the latest updates on upcoming news, please sign up for i.TV news. In the meantime, please be sure to vote for it on our user feedback page at http://getsatisfaction.com/itv.

So when can I expect to be able to watch any shows I've missed using my iPhone no matter where I am in the world? That's the functionality I want to see!

What's with the filtering – I can't find a setting that doesn't hide channels like HBO at certain times of the day. Is there no option to turn the stupid filter off altogether?
